There is little to report about my first full day in Delaware because it was literally a day at the beach. My friend and I enjoyed breakfast at the Dairy Queen, then sat in the sand all morning, catching up and going quiet as the beautiful day progressed. We stayed out of the cold water at the start, and apparently I got into a sand-throwing contest with a child.
For lunch, we went into historic Lewes and explored a bit to get some shade during the heat of the day. We stopped at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and visited their new inter-faith bookstore, where the staff chatted happily. The graves at the historic church were worn down by weather and growth, so we could not make out the inscriptions.
Then we went back to the beach for the long afternoon, played a bit in the water, and worked up an appetite for our crab cake dinner and homemade ice cream.
